P001 → Caecien Revival - ALDO
I was tasked with redesigning one of Aldo men’s best-selling sneakers, Caecien. It was important to keep the DNA of the brand while integrating the current fashion trends of the time and adding design elements that, based on sales, resonated well with Aldo’s customers; while respecting the 3-5 day period deadline, and the 98$- 108$ price. Finally,
it was important for this project to remain commercial and still give it a timeless design that would allow the brand to refresh its style through materials rather than redesigning the shoe.
When making a project like this from sole to upper in 3 days it is imperative to be as close to the product as possible hence why instead of looking for abstract inspiration, we draw inspiration from the market. At the time one of the most important brand making shoes was McQueen with their oversized sneaker. So much so that other brands were also developing their interpretations, for example, Karl Lagerfeld. The work in this project is to identify the right brands to pull inspiration from that speak the same language as your project.
From my product inspiration, two elements that stood up to me, to add thickness and saw teeth. Also adding a colour partition would give it a versatile element for the future.
After designing the outsole one thing was clear, the aggressiveness of the outsole deserved to be the highlight of the shoe. Therefore it is important to have a clean upper that can be subtle enough, not to take away from the outsole but to compliment it, with a minimal but modern design.

After finalizing this project, I was given the opportunity to work on a second option. I was tasked to work on a skate concept, at the time the Lanvin Curb had been recently released and it became the perfect inspiration for what we wanted to do next.
